The National Robotics Team, represented by students from Colegio Cervantes de Torreón, obtained excellent results for La Laguna and for all of Mexico in the FIRST Global Challenge 2022 international competition, held from October 13 to 16 in Geneva, Switzerland.They took the most prestigious award of the tie.After two intense months of work, the young people fulfilled their dream and competed with students from 180 countries around the world, with the challenge of reimagining the future of the Earth's climate.The robots faced the challenge of carbon capture."The FIRST Global Challenge 2022 introduced a key concept to limit the negative effects of climate change on our planet. In carbon capture, the teams learned about the impact of CO2 on our environment and the technologies that are being developed and/or that already exist to ensure the safety of our planet in the future.During the first day of competition, Team Mexico obtained the special recognition "Safety Award", which rewards the teams that maintain a high level of safety, order and hygiene within the playing field and their work station.After 3 competitions, they were placed as the highest scoring team of the day with a total of 383 points.And last Saturday, October 15, they participated in seven "matches" where they had the opportunity to work in alliance with countries such as Poland, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Portugal, Iran, Italy and New Zealand, being the winners in each of them and ending the day in second place overall with 324 points, only 3 points difference from the first place, Kazakhstan with 327 points.Yesterday, on the last day of the competition, there was a lot of adrenaline and great emotions on the pitch."Since our work was heard throughout the venue and we gave the best of ourselves in each match and in each playoff, working hand in hand with the alliance countries such as Tonga, Tanzania and the Republic of Korea".With this alliance they obtained the silver medal FIRST Global Finalist Alliances Award.They were also awarded the FIRST Global Challenge Award silver medal for having been the second highest scoring team during the competition, with a total of 1,194 points.Kazakhstan won the Gold Medal with a total of 1,260 points.FIRST'S MOST PRESTIGIOUS AWARDThe closing was perfect for the Mexican National Team, as they won the gold medal "Albert Einstein Award for FIRST Global International Excellence".This is the most prestigious award of the competition, which is awarded to the team whose robot obtained the best performance during the competition and that also exemplifies all the principles of the FIRST Global community."We are very proud of our Mexican Robotics Team TEAM Mexico FGC, this weekend they represented more than 130 million Mexicans by raising the name of Mexico, Coahuila, and our city of Torreón".The members of the robotics team are: Ángel Emiliano Arellano Manzo, Carlos Alejandro Campos Guzmán, Carlos Gibrán Verástegui Iglesias, Emilia Plancarte Garibay, Hugo Daniel Espino Luján, Luis Fernando Arredondo Esparza, María Fernanda López Valenzuela, Max Fernando Fernández Piedra and Zara Carolina Moreno.
